MetalHeadRadio:
Welcome to the interview with Back From Ashes. Thanks Jason & BFA for agreeing to let us take a peak into your band. The band is.......

BFA:
Jason - Vocals
Mike - Guitar
Matt - Guitar
Lane - Bass
Steve - Drums
MetalHeadRadio:
What's the origin of your band name?
BFA:
We are a Phoenix band after all and what better name to represent AZ than the story behind the Phoenix. The phoenix rose from the ashes much like each of our musical careers. The name exemplifies who we are and what we have gone through. We came Back From the Ashes as both individuals and a band with a fury!
MetalHeadRadio:
How long have you all known each other & how did you meet?

BFA:
Mike and I (Jason) met in 2005 and the rest of the guys in 2007.
How we met was Luck!!! Mike tried out for a band I was in and the guys I was with didn't like him. I thought they were crazy and not long after, the band broke up. I put an ad in the newtimes looking for a new band and Mike called me. The rest is history.
MetalHeadRadio:
When did you form your band?
BFA:
December of 2005
MetalHeadRadio:
What inspired you to make music together?

BFA:
Sex. Have you seen us? Just kidding. We had all been in other bands and nothing really grabbed us. This was an opportunity to start from the ground up. Something WE wanted not something already put together. Oh...and sex.
MetalHeadRadio:
What is your music background?
BFA:
None. Not one of us has any formal training. Sometimes that isn't bad...right?
MetalHeadRadio:
Who are your musical influences?

BFA:
I could go on for days on this question. We all are so incredibly different in our tastes. Everywhere from Blues, Prog, Death Metal to Adult contemporary. I think that is what helps mold our unique sound. If there is such a thing anymore.
MetalHeadRadio:
What are your immediate music career goals? (Next year or so)
BFA:
To get heard by as many people as we can. Tour, get paid, meet fans, and rule the world. I love Pinky and the Brain...lol.
MetalHeadRadio:
Who handles your daily business activities? (Bookings, promotions etc.)

BFA:
A network of people. Yvonne Laughlin from Metal Music Promotions, Andrew Cox of Desert Core Management, Big Noise, Shauna of Muen Magazine, The 20 million street teams. I can go on and on. We are lucky to have the support group that we do. It is truly unreal.
MetalHeadRadio:
Do you have a record label? Are you a member of any music organizations?
BFA:
We are not signed....YET! Totally independent. One day maybe they will give us a shot...lol. We are members of ASCAP and endorsed by Jackson Guitars.
MetalHeadRadio:
Where have you performed? What are your favorite and least favorite venues?
BFA:
It seems like everywhere but we haven't even touched the tip of the iceberg. My god these questions could take me all day to answer...haha. We don't really have a least favorite venue. I know it sounds like a political answer but anywhere we play and there are fans to see us, we are happy. Of course some clubs are better than others but all in all we get treated very well.

MetalHeadRadio:
Where would the "ultimate" venue for you to play be?
BFA:
Every arena in the world! Download fest and Waken Open Air fest would be amazing. Playboy mansion would be nice : - )
MetalHeadRadio:
Which songs do you perform most frequently?

BFA:
Right now it is our latest EP. Father Fiction was probably the most played along with Tightrope of our freshman release "Broken"
MetalHeadRadio:
Do you ever play any covers?
BFA:
We used to play Don't Stand So Close To Me by the Police. It has since been retired.
MetalHeadRadio:
Who writes your songs & What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs?
BFA:
We all do. No joke.
They vary. We write about life. I like to take in everything around me and use it as a subject. Have you ever just sat back and watched people? It is very interesting what you see. You try not to be judgmental because, I'm sure, I'm no slice of cherry pie. But man...sometimes it makes for easy writing.

MetalHeadRadio:
Who comes up with the most song ideas?
BFA:
You trying to start a band fight??? We all do of course...lol
MetalHeadRadio:
What are your rehearsals generally like? Do you have a set time each week in
which you practice or are rehearsals more spontaneous?
BFA:
We practice 3-4 times a week. We leave one practice open to the public. It gives us a good gauge to what we are writing. If they go nuts you know the song is great. If they don't...maybe we have some work to do.
MetalHeadRadio:
How has your music evolved since first began playing together?
BFA:
Leaps and bounds. They first 3 weeks we sat there and looked at each other. Today we know what we are all thinking. We have matured. We used to have these 14 minute jams...now we have actual songs...lol.

MetalHeadRadio:
What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands?
BFA:
DON"T DO IT!!! Your wives or girlfriends will leave you...you will always be broke and you're married to 4 other bitches (The rest of your band) that you don't sleep with. Just kidding of course. If you decide to start a band always remember to practice...practice...practice. The next thing you need to do is promote....promote...promote. Of course don't forget about shows. There is really a whole laundry list of things you need to do as a new band but the two things above are very important.
MetalHeadRadio:
What is the name of your most current CD & Where can you get it?
